We are looking for a kind, enthusiastic, responsible, and creative roommate(s) to share our beautiful home on Caney Fork in Cullowhee, NC. Located 15 min from Sylva, and 70 min from Asheville this beautiful rustic two story log cabin has decks overlooking the creek plus several additions, sheds, and outbuildings which have been built over the past 40 years. Renter will have their own sunny and large upstairs bedroom (230 sq ft.) with a large closet / storage space (65 sq ft), private upstairs deck, bed & dresser (if needed). Renter will share common spaces which include an open floor plan with a woodstove-heated living room, dining room, kitchen, and bathroom w/laundry as well as an arts & crafts studio loft. $600/month rent includes water, heat, electric, and internet. Couples are welcome to share the space as well, for an additional $100/month.
Around the property you can enjoy the quiet serenity of the creekfront including swimming and creek snorkeling in the warmer months, plus a large garden area and yard. We also have a wood-fired hot tub on the property as well as a pottery studio, both of which can be used by the renter after proper instruction. Renter can have the creative freedom to paint their bedroom and remove the large wallpaper world map currently on ceiling if desired.
Our vision for this land and home is to create a peaceful and beautiful space where people of all identities can feel safe, welcome, more fully alive, and more deeply connected to the more than human world. In service to that vision, we are looking for community minded, sober folks with an appreciation for the wonder of the natural world.
We are a couple in our mid to late 30s, outdoor educators by trade. We love playing and listening to music, gardening, landscaping, crafting delicious meals, and hosting dinner guests. We spend as much time as possible outdoors and we often see herons, deer, osprey, eagles, otters, and loads of other critters here in the creek!
Though we like to have lots of fun projects happening (crafts, kitchen creations, home improvement projects etc), we maintain a fairly tidy living space and expect the same from renters. We work from home and are open to our renter also working remotely from here. Our internet provider (SkyFi) is fairly reliable but not super fast (average around 7 Mbps down and 2 Mbps up). Renter can pay for speed upgrade if needed. We wake between 6:30-8am most days and go to bed around 9:30 or 10pm most evenings. The house isn’t the most soundproof and we’d expect our renter to maintain a respectfully low volume after 10pm.
We have two goofy and energetic dogs that will want to be your new best friends. No additional pets are allowed at this time. Our ideal renter would be an enthusiastic and compassionate animal lover.
This will be a month to month lease.
